It all started...
At the big playground of U-Hill Elementary, where kids raced across monkey bars every recess and lunch, Tony and Jenny unknowingly crossed paths. When exactly? Honestly, who knows—2013? 2012? Maybe even 2009. Did they know each other back then? Nope, not at all. But chances are, they bumped into each other a few times without realizing their paths would cross in much bigger ways someday.
Chapter 2: 无缘1.0
Fast forward to the summer of 2018, where their lives officially intertwined at a summer camp organized by their Chinese school—a setting straight out of a classic rom-com. Tony was hyped for the trip, while Jenny got dragged there by her dad and wasn’t thrilled at all.
At the pre-trip meeting, Jenny’s gaze landed on Tony. She found him cute, his energy magnetic. Tony, meanwhile, was struck by Jenny’s beauty, like something out of a daydream. But alas, no one made the first move. Jenny tried to play it cool, and Tony, caught in his awkward teenage phase, kept his distance. To make things even more complicated, Jenny mistakenly thought Tony was gay (ouch).
They barely talked during camp—seriously, you could count their interactions on one hand. Jenny ended up crushing on another guy and left early for “another event.” Spoiler: she later admitted that wasn’t even true.
Chapter 3: A Chance Meeting in Beijing (无缘2.0)
The following summer, Tony returned to camp, secretly hoping Jenny would be there again. When he heard she wasn’t, disappointment set in. But fate had other plans—a brief reunion in Beijing.
When Jenny visited the group, Tony panicked. He tried to act busy when she arrived but couldn’t stop his heart from racing. They exchanged an awkward hello, ate dinner with the group, and that was it. But for Tony, it was a highlight of the trip.
Afterward, Jenny began texting Tony more often. Tony, however, being blissfully oblivious, didn’t read between the lines. Instead, he started dating someone else, leaving their connection to fizzle out once more.
Chapter 4: 无缘3.0

After the long COVID lockdowns, life was finally getting back on track. Jenny and Tony stayed sort of in touch, but nothing serious. Then one day, Jenny asked Tony if he wanted to play 剧本杀. Tony, predictably, got nervous but said yes.
He practiced online so he wouldn’t embarrass himself. The first game with Jenny and her friends? Awkward. Dinner? Also awkward. Tony barely spoke because he was, you guessed it, nervous. But Jenny’s friends were chill, and they kept inviting Tony to hang out. Over that summer, Tony got to know Jenny better, and something from deep down—maybe from their previous encounters—started to grow.
As summer ended, Jenny mentioned she’d always wanted to see the sunrise but never had. Tony couldn’t let that slide. The night before she left, he drove around with a friend (aka Darren) to find the best sunrise spot. When they did, he picked Jenny up, and they watched it together (not with Darren of course). That sunrise was one of the best Vancouver had ever seen, like it was meant to be.
But Jenny left soon after, leaving Tony with a bittersweet memory to cherish.
Chapter 5: The Summer of Courage
It’s summer again, and Jenny’s finally back! This was the summer where everything changed. Tony decided it was time to stop bottling up his feelings and actually do something about them. That summer was packed with memories: late-night adventures, watching fireworks together, playing a ton of 剧本杀, and catching sunsets that seemed made just for them. Whatever Jenny wanted, Tony was there for it. If she needed support, he was her biggest cheerleader. If she mentioned something she wanted to do, Tony made it happen.
As 七夕 approached, Tony nervously asked Jenny if she had plans. To his surprise—and delight—she said she was spending it alone. This was his chance. Summoning his courage, Tony asked if she’d like to spend the day with him. When she agreed, Tony’s heart soared.
Tony went into full prep mode. He hit up the local flower shop to get her some flowers. Problem? He had no clue what he was doing. It was his first time buying flowers for a girl. After awkwardly explaining to the florist that he wanted something cute with hot pink, red, and purple, they made a bouquet. (Side note: For the guys reading this—don’t get this combo. Also, if you’re dating an Asian girl, try an Asian florist. Trust me.)
The day unfolded like a dream. They tried tufting together, shared delicious Japanese pasta while watching the sunset, and capped it off with a horror movie. It was Jenny’s first-ever horror film, so it took a lot of convincing from Tony. The movie wasn’t even that scary, but it was enough for Jenny to grab onto Tony during the “intense” parts. Was this Tony’s plan all along? Who knows (he knows).
After the movie, Jenny asked if there was more to the night. Tony knew it was now or never. He drove her to the spot where they had once watched the sunrise, a place brimming with memories and meaning. As the stars twinkled above, Tony confessed his feelings.
Jenny was surprised. Like, really surprised. She admitted she didn’t see it coming and told Tony she wasn’t sure about starting another long-distance relationship. But she also said she was willing to give him a chance. It wasn’t a full-on yes, but it was enough for Tony. He felt like the happiest guy in the world that night.
After that, they hung out even more. The vibe was just different—better, closer. One thing led to another, and on August 12, 2024, it finally happened. After a night of alcohol-fueled 剧本杀, they kissed.
And it wasn’t just any kiss. It was the kiss. The kind of kiss that makes all the awkward moments, miscommunications, and waiting totally worth it.
But as they say, time flies when you’re having fun. Before they knew it, it was time for Jenny to head back to New York. The goodbye wasn’t easy, but Tony wasn’t ready to let this story end. Not now. Not ever.
Chapter 7: Not on the Same Page
This time, Jenny and Tony made sure to stay in touch. Daily calls became their thing. But in those first few days after Jenny left for New York, Tony found himself in a weird state. At night, half-asleep, he kept thinking his brother was Jenny. Yeah, he’s that weird.
Then, towards the end of September, they had a huge fight. What was it about? Honestly, no one remembers. But it hit hard. Tony thought it was over. He went full emo—like, peak-level emo. Desperate for some kind of relief, he decided to pick up knitting. Yes, knitting. His thought process? If this is the end, at least I’ll knit her something to show I was serious.
Luckily, Jenny forgave him, and things slowly went back to normal. Tony breathed a sigh of relief, though his knitting hobby stuck around for a bit longer.
October rolled around, and with it, Jenny’s birthday. Tony had finished knitting her a scarf—a labor of love he was convinced would be the gift. The kind of gift that would leave Jenny speechless (in a good way). He was so sure this scarf would make up for everything, including the fact that he hadn’t sent flowers (a huge no no as he would soon learn).
But then, disaster struck. The scarf arrived a day late. Jenny opened it, and… let’s just say it didn’t land the way Tony had hoped. Instead of being moved, she found it a bit strange. "We’re not even together yet," she said. They weren’t on the same page—Jenny’s words, not his.
Tony was crushed. All his effort, all his hope, unraveling like a dropped stitch. But he wasn’t ready to give up. His last chance? The upcoming trip to New York in November. In person, he thought, maybe he could finally get them on the same page.
Chapter 8: The Turning Point
November finally arrived, and it was Tony’s reading break—a perfect excuse to visit Jenny in New York. Jenny, being the planner she is, had mapped out an incredibly detailed itinerary to make sure Tony had the best time ever.
But, in classic Tony-and-Jenny fashion, they got into another argument right before the trip (arguments were kind of their thing at this point). Tony wasn’t sure if Jenny even wanted to see him anymore. Still, determined to make things right—and to properly celebrate her birthday—Tony sprang into action the moment his plane landed.
First stop: a flower shop in Manhattan, where he picked up the bouquet he’d reserved. Armed with those flowers and the Care Bear he’d bought in Toronto, he headed straight to Jenny’s dorm. To his relief (and maybe a little surprise), Jenny was genuinely excited to see him.

From there, they checked into their hotel, and Jenny’s meticulous planning kicked into gear. She made sure Tony’s New York trip was packed with fun, memorable experiences. They explored the city, laughed, and shared moments that felt almost magical.
(Insert Vlog video... its almost done editing!)
But something else was happening—something Tony didn’t even realize at the time. Through his small, thoughtful actions, Jenny started to see him in a different light. She noticed how gentle and caring he was, and her feelings for him began to shift.
By the end of the trip, when it was time for Tony to head back to Vancouver, neither of them wanted to say goodbye. The time they’d spent together had been amazing, and it was clear now—things between them had changed.
Chapter 9: IT'S OFFICIAL!
December rolled around, and Jenny was finally back from New York again. Tony knew this was it. If there was ever a moment to make things official, it was now.
On December 23, with snow gently falling like a scene straight out of a movie, Tony brought out the flowers and the necklace he had carefully prepared. Heart pounding, he asked Jenny the question he’d been waiting to ask: “Will you be my girlfriend?”
Jenny, ever Jenny, was a little confused at first. But then she smiled and said yes. Just like that, it became official. The dreamy snowfall only made the moment more magical.
And, well, the rest is history.
I could keep babbling, but honestly, the pictures tell the story better. Today marks two years since that snowy, unforgettable day. Two years of love, growth, and countless memories. Their relationship isn’t perfect—let’s be real, they argue a lot. But every disagreement is a chance to learn, to grow, and to understand each other more deeply.
People often say love fades with time, but not for these two. Their love is pure madness—passionate, stubborn, and extraordinary. Here’s to today, tomorrow, and every day after. Cheers to many more years of love and laughter!
